Bird of Paradise
My large paddle-shaped leaves on my long elegant stems make me a standout piece almost anywhere in the house – and I love sunny spots!
Despite the name, this is not a banana tree. It gets its popular name because its leaves look very similar to those of a banana tree, not because it bears any yellow fruit.
I love the sunshine – you can put me in direct light, just be careful with the hottest summer rays.
Water liberally when the top of my soil is dry but don't let the soil become wet; water me much less in winter.
Feed me once a month in spring and summer.
I like regular misting and prefer temperatures over 20°C.
Wipe my leaves every few weeks to remove dust.
